My Favorite: Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes

Martha's Skincare Cabinet

Sometimes I really can’t stand the idea of splashing water on my face at 11 o’clock at night. That’s when I reach for this towelette, add some water to dilute it and clean my skin. Then I rinse my face by re-wetting the towelette and wiping again. I imagine the experts won’t go for this.

How to Choose Yours:
None of the experts is a fan of cleansing wipes. Humphrey says that wipes have a lot of chemical ingredients, which can be quite drying. She prefers a gentle cleanser. “You’re a human being, just wash your face,” says Wagner. “Even if you just splash some water on it, that’s better than having all those ingredients sit on your skin.”

Alexiades warns the fibers in the wipes tend not to be natural and wipes are at risk for mold growth. “Anyone who has kept their wipes around a while knows this.” If you do use one, make sure to rinse your skin after with water.
