After analyzing 85 chemicals once believed to have no association with cancer, scientists are now changing their tune. Researchers say these chemicals might be safe individually, but it’s being proved otherwise when they’re mixed or when they accumulate in the body. The research fails to mention which chemical combinations to look out for, so what’s a health-conscious consumer to do? For starters, pay attention to labels. A great rule of thumb is if you don’t recognize or can’t pronounce an ingredient, look it up to find out its purpose. If there’s any hesitation, see if there’s a more natural alternative or shop at a store that doesn’t allow any dubious chemicals into its products to begin with.
