Thinking pleasant thoughts while running on the treadmill at the gym may actually help your workout neighbor get his day off to a better start; considering the scent of your ‘happy sweat’ could be contagious. New research has determined that chemicals from sweat produced in a happy state can be transferred to others through scent.

"Human sweat produced when a person is happy induces a state similar to happiness in somebody who inhales this odor," said study co-author Gun Semin, a research professor in the department of psychology at Koc University in Istanbul, Turkey, and the Instituto Superior de Psicologia Aplicada in Lisbon, Portugal.

One expert says the concept makes sense when considering that the same holds true for other senses (seeing or hearing happy people can make you happier as well).
