Fit at 50? Heart Attack During Exercise Unlikely
April 6, 2015
We all know that scene in the movie, the one where a middle-aged man gets a heart attack in the middle of getting down and dirty. Who wrote that script anyway? Because we have news for them—according to a new study by the Journal of Circulation, the likelihood of having an attack during cardio exercise is slim to none. Even better, for the 5% of people from the study who did have heart attacks during physical activity the outcome was positive, or in other words it wasn't fatal. The article also reassures us that cardiac arrest doesn't just come out of nowhere; typically the body will give you warning signs such as chest pain or breathlessness. And besides, regular exercise is recommended as a great tool to eliminate the risk of heart problems. So if you’re 50 and older, you better get to it—there are no excuses left!
