It turns out those three-minute planks or HIIT (high-intensity interval training) workouts may not be the only ways to trim your midsection. In fact, much to resistant exercisers’ delight, there might be a far less intense solution. According to new research, those who spent two hours walking instead of sitting had waistlines that were three inches smaller on average along with a lower risk of heart disease. While the researchers note that not all sitting is bad, most people spend an average of nine hours each day on their rears, which equates to approximately 60 percent of the time they’re awake. That said, perhaps find a lunch spot that’s a healthy walk from the office. Or you could even invite coworkers to join you for a 'walk break' a few times a week.
