Want to save loads of money on your skin and body care products? Then start shopping in the men’s department. A new article from the New York Times compares nearly identically formulated and equally effective men’s and women’s products (such as eye creams or body lotions) and finds that prices are inflated up to 50% more for women’s versions. The inflation is due to reasons ranging from increased packaging costs to the simple fact that men aren’t willing to pay as much as women. Unfair, right? So go ahead and just buy men’s products, especially considering their products include less fragrance, lighter consistency and are less like makeup. Besides, the men’s market has clearly expanded over the last several years, offering more variety than ever. According to Mintel, from 2007 to 2012, personal care launches targeted at men increased globally by a whopping 70%. We say, start shopping in the men’s department!
