According to the American Academy of Pediatrics breast milk is the Holy Grail when it comes to health benefits for baby, decreasing the possibility that they will get a variety of infectious diseases. According to many an old wives’ tales, when applied to the skin, breast milk can also help with skin irritations, acne and rashes, so it isn’t surprising that the beauty industry is starting to cash in on mother’s milk. A new skincare studio in Chicago is offering breast milk as a $10 add-on to their facial treatments, using milk sourced from local banks, mixing it with white clay and applying to the skin as a redness-reducing mask. As a mother myself, I do believe that breast milk has healing qualities when applied to the skin, though I am not sure I would feel comfortable lathering someone else’s on my face. Would you?
