Ever have one of those weeks (or months or years—no judgments!) where your fitness motivation has taken a leave of absence? We can relate. For times like these, one perpetually fitness-resistant New York Times writer shares his experience testing every new-fangled exercise app and tool only to discover that the best solution for him was to unplug completely—which is how he developed an appreciation for tai chi. Instead of group classes, he splurged on some private lessons to learn the basics of the Chinese martial art that incorporates meditation. He then recorded some of his sessions so that he could maintain a steady practice at home and has found it to be, by far, the most effective exercise routine he’s stuck with to date. Have you ever tried tai chi or do you now feel compelled to when the motivation to exercise is lacking? What other tricks have you found to be effective in reviving your fitness enthusiasm?
