Though the utility of routine mammograms in women ages 40 to 49 has recently been debated, Sandra Lee believes this controversial screening method has saved her life. Lee, the popular TV chef who pioneered the 'semi-homemade' concept, noticed no symptoms or changes before she was diagnosed with breast cancer after a routine checkup. Lee had a lumpectomy, but because tumor margins were found not to be clear, she is now opting for a double mastectomy, and hopeful that her cancer has been caught early enough to be successfully managed. Do you think women under 50 should undergo regular mammograms, even though a widely cited study in 'The British Medical Journal" found they don't decrease mortality risk?
