After moving to Los Angeles to further her studies in yoga, Akasha Richmond settled into the life of a chef quite by accident. While working at Golden Temple, an 80’s vegetarian hotspot, in her early twenties, she met singer Michael Jackson, who asked her to start catering parties and doing dinners for him. She flourished in this role to become one of Los Angeles’s celebrated culinary names. For the first part of her career she worked as a personal chef for several celebrities and published a cookbook called Hollywood Dish.  In 2008, Richmond opened the doors to her restaurant, AKASHA, with husband Alan Shulman, which has become a destination for the who’s-who in the entertainment industry. Richmond is currently in the process of opening her second restaurant in Culver City, Calif. which will be of Indian influence.
