Philosophy
Alexiades-Armenakas’s goal is to maximize efficacy while eliminating toxicity in skin care, anti-aging and the world. The groundwork for her approach was laid during 15 postgraduate years spent in the lab investigating plant molecular biology, mammalian stem cell biology and more. Her varied scientific and clinical background allows her to understand the science behind new molecules and to translate it into clinical results on real people. In her ongoing care for her dermatologic patients, she is able to observe and follow-up first-hand whether a particular ingredient works and is well-tolerated in the long-term. Her skin care line, 37 Extreme Actives, includes both a high-powered cleanser to prep the skin for active delivery of a high-performance treatment cream with ingredients micro-targeted to reverse the signs of aging.
Experience
Macrene Alexiades-Armenakas sets herself apart from the crowded dermatologist field as a triple threat: she has earned three degrees from Harvard University, including her undergraduate degree in biology, her medical degree and a doctorate in genetics. Before opening what is now a thriving dermatology practice in New York City, Alexiades-Armenakas spent 15 years in the lab, researching a wide range of subjects from plant, insect and mammalian molecular biology to bioengineering. Since opening her Park Avenue office, she’s continued her research while also treating patients, serving as an assistant clinical professor at the Yale University School of Medicine and acting as an attending physician at Manhattan and New Haven hospitals. She’s even developed her own skincare line, 37 Actives. Alexiades-Armenakas is the rare dermatologist who is board-certified in both the United States and Europe, and no less than global cosmetics powerhouse Lancome has enlisted her as their consulting dermatology advisor.

It’s true. Beauty Editors get to try a lot of products. While this enables us to experience what’s new in the exponentially growing world of beauty, and learn—first-hand—what works and what doesn’t, the bad news is that all this experimentation can wreak havoc with our skin’s moisture barriers (a...
